Clean Sailors kicked-off ICOMIA World Marina Conference with vision for future marinas
Clean Sailors lead, Holly Manvell, joined the ICOMIA World Marina Conference in Dubai to kick-off the three-day session, presenting a vision for marinas of the future; places of Innovation, Education and importantly, of Conservation.
Holly was joined by Cedric Le Rest, marina manager and consultant and highly experienced super-yacht captain, Patricia Casewell, for a panel discussion on the future of marinas and how marinas can meet the opportunities and challenges presented by a variety of stakeholders.
The event was hosted by ICOMIA, the International Council of Marine Industry Associations and MC’d by British Sailor and Olympic gold medallist, Shirley Robertson.
“Our marinas, ports and harbours are situated so uniquely between land and sea; are uniquely placed to be guardians of our waters” said Holly, “they too need to be and remain viable business opportunities. By becoming hubs for Education, Innovation and Conservation, marinas can truly help lead a refreshed and better relationship with our waters.”
“Holly gave us a snapshot of yacht harbours through young people’s eyes. It was daring and refreshing, and transmitted the message of how much the industry and users can do to make nautical activity a sustainable hobby and sport, with little compromise” shared Marina World, who covered the event.
